What we did
  • Clarinet
    • Nina and Ray'Niece
      • No instrument (still attempting to attain a CCS Instrument)
  • Flute
    • Nothing accomplished due to student absence

  • Trumpets and Trombone (Haleigh No achievements shown due to absence)
    • Assessed proficiency of performance targets for line 7 and 12
      • inaccurate pitches, unfocused tone and time unsteady.
      • Little improvement over several weeks.
      • They are capable of meeting the performance goals but are not working outside of class.
    • Moved ahead to learning targets of reading, understanding and performing half notes and quarter notes in lines 11, 12 and 16; without individual attention to reaching proficiency as needed in line 7, achievement in this area will be difficult

  • Alto Saxophones
    • Assessed proficiency of performance targets in line 12
    • Introduced learning targets of reading, counting and performing quarter notes in line 16

  • Percussion - (Paige and Tyra had instruments; Ray'Niece switching to a CCS Instrument since she is not able to attain an instrument)
    • Paige - Assessed Performance level of line 12
      • Time still needs to be more steady
      • Confusing the notes D and C
    • Tyra - Can play "Hot Cross Buns" but admitted that it was more memorization than reading


What to do
  • Students need to have instruments
  • Students need to achieve performance targets on lines from pages 6-8

Next lesson goals
  • Establish your learning targets and track them on your practice record
  • Students should begin meeting mastery of performance targets for lines 22, 23 and 29
    • Some students are still working on line 7 while most are at lines 12 and 14.
